Paraconsistency of Interactive Computation

چکیده
The goal of computational logic is to allow us to model computation as well as to reason about it. We argue that a computational logic must be able to model interactive computation. We show that firstorder logic cannot model interactive computation due to the incompleteness of interaction. We show that interactive computation is necessarily paraconsistent, able to model both a fact and its negation, due to the role of the world (environment) in determining the course of the computation. We conclude that paraconsistency is a necessary property for a logic that can model interactive computation.

Resource-Bounded Reasoning and Paraconsistency
Paraconsistent logic formalizes reasoning from inconsistent information. The preservationist variety of this logic concerns itself with forms of reasoning that preserve properties of information other than those, like overall satisfy and consistency, preserved by classical forms. The study of computation and information processing in the presence of inconsistency has utilized paraconsistent log...
متن کاملOn Discourses Addressed by Infidel Logicians
We attempt to address here some alleged criticisms against the philosophical import of the so-called Brazilian approach to paraconsistency, especially by providing some demanded epistemic elucidations to the whole enterprise of the logics of formal inconsistency. In the way of elucidating, we substantiate the view that difficulties in reasoning under contradictions in both the Buddhist and the ...
متن کاملParaconsistency properties in degree-preserving fuzzy logics
Paraconsistent logics are specially tailored to deal with inconsistency, while fuzzy logics primarily deal with graded truth and vagueness. Aiming to find logics that can handle inconsistency and graded truth at once, in this paper we explore the notion of paraconsistent fuzzy logic. We show that degree-preserving fuzzy logics have paraconsistency features and study them as logics of formal inc...
متن کاملThree Schools of Paraconsistency
A logic is said to be paraconsistent if it does not allow everything to follow from contradictory premises. There are several approaches to paraconsistency. This paper is concerned with several philosophical positions on paraconsistency. In particular, it concerns three ‘schools’ of paraconsistency: Australian, Belgian and Brazilian. The Belgian and Brazilian schools have raised some objections...
متن کاملMaximal and Premaximal Paraconsistency in the Framework of Three-Valued Semantics
Maximality is a desirable property of paraconsistent logics, motivated by the aspiration to tolerate inconsistencies, but at the same time retain from classical logic as much as possible. In this paper we introduce the strongest possible notion of maximal paraconsistency , and investigate it in the context of logics that are based on deterministic or non-deterministic three-valued matrices. We ...
